The New York Property and Casualty Insurance Exam is the licensing test for anyone seeking to sell, solicit, or negotiate property and casualty insurance in New York. Administered by PSI on behalf of the New York Department of Financial Services (DFS), the exam is a computer-based, closed-book multiple-choice test that covers general insurance principles, property and casualty policy types, and New York Insurance Law and DFS Regulations. Candidates must complete a 40-hour property pre-licensing course and a 40-hour casualty pre-licensing course (or an 80-hour combined course) at a DFS-approved provider before scheduling.
